Yoga & Positive Psychology
- the perfect match
I started practicing Yoga in 1993 (maybe even 1992), following a book. I continued practicing as part of my "stretching routine" for running.
Early 2000 I went through a challenging time, I endured a mentally and emotionally demanding period in my life that ended in divorce. My yoga practice and my yoga teacher saved me.
In 2012, I wanted to find out about this power of Yoga, that I experienced, and signed up for a Yoga teacher training immersion program at Kripalu. I wanted to learn about the psychological aspects of Yoga, that influenced me so deeply; I made it clear to our teacher trainers, that I never intended to teach, I only wanted to learn.
Needless to say, I started teaching right away.
During Covid I became intrigued by the science of Positive Psychology and signed up for an online certified program, lead by Martin E.P. Seligman.
Since then I have completed three certification programs and realize more and more how Yoga's psychology and philosophy has so many parallels to Positive Psychology.
In my workshops and classes I offer aspects of both and connections between the two beautiful disciplines.
